Parihaka day

My school had a Parihaka remembrance day. We all dressed in white and made head bands with Maori patterns. We were learning about the day.  did you know that the Maori got their land taken away from them? How to make a band: get some white paper and cut it in to a strip. measure your head and draw patterns and then tape some feathers to it and tape the two ends together and that’s it. happy Parihaka day.

Black ferns

Hello, today I am going to tell you about the woman’s world cup and about the awesome Black Ferns. They are  a cool woman’s rugby team that are currently playing in the World Cup in NZ and they have their quarter finale coming up. So we wrote some support letters to surprise the team with. Here is the link to mine. You can also check out this video the Waikowhai Senior Syndicate made link

Here is the website to the black ferns. link .  I hope they win, I guess we will find out tomorrow they sent us the stuff because Sylvia brunt went to Waikowhai Primary school.

The museum

On Tuesday we went to the museum and my favourite thing was the tug of war because there was so many different modes to choose from. The whole senior syndicate went. We went on a bus to the museum. We went because we did a recap on volcanoes and the environment. First i went and saw NZ’s history and then I went to the Pacific place and then to the volcano class room. I like the museum because it was a school trip and we don’t do them often.

y6 camp kayaking

On Wednesday I woke up and I remembered it was the kayaking and pedal boating day! After getting ready and having breakfast at midday we went off to do kayaks and the pedal boats. My group did kayaks first and it was very fun because we went super fast if you paddled quickly. We went quite far through the estuary to a pontoon and then turned around and went back. Then we went  to try the  paddle boats.

The pedal boats were harder to work than a kayak because there was a gear stick and you needed to pull it down to turn left and up to turn right, and pedal it at same time. If you went too shallow the bottom of the boat would scrape and you could break it, but if you were skilled enough at driving the boat you could maneuver your way through rocks and trees. I liked this activity because it was a good way to get sun and have time with your friends.
